Do you think you have what it takes to join a dedicated team of students that run the Students' Union here at B&FC?? Then we want to hear from you!!!

We have the President positions available in FE and HE which act as the main representatives for the Students' Union, driving the direction and leadership of what we do and how we do it. We are also looking for Vice Presidents, in FE and HE, that will represent the voices of the students in their particular curriculum area. NOMINATIONS FOR THE CORPORATION BOARD AWARDS FOR EXCELLENCE IN LEARNING AND TEACHING ARE NOW OPEN

The Governors would like to celebrate the immense amount of excellent and successful Learning and Teaching which takes place at Blackpool and the Fylde College, which contributes to changing the lives of so many of our learners.

These awards are designed to celebrate the importance of staff who deliver or support learning. There are three overall winners and all nominated candidates will receive a certificate and be part of a celebratory event at the end of term. Students and members of staff can nominate anyone who is directly involved in Learning and Teaching, including support staff.

Nomination forms can be submitted from 1 April 2019 - 17 May 2019.

The presentation event will be held at the Paradise Rooms, Blackpool Pleasure Beach on 27 June 2019.

Take part in the Degree level apprenticeship survey which is being conducted by Universities UK (UUK) and the National Education Opportunities Network (NEON).

This survey aims to get your opinions on various post-18 qualifications. The Survey asks a series of questions to try and understand what you plan to do in the future, why you have chosen the route you have chosen, whether you feel equipped to make choices about what you want to do, and how the quality of information required to make decisions about your future can be improved. We wish to gain an understanding of factors which influence the decisions young people make at the age of 18, and therefore wish to speak to students, like yourself, in years 12 and year 10 who are representative of this group. Digital Skills Awareness Training Programme

There is an opportunity to participate in a FREE training programme for improving Digital Skills. This is on offer to all Students, over 18, and Staff as well as anyone outside of college who is looking to improve their personal Digital Skills and add to their Employability skills.

This FREE course is 4 hours and covers the following topics:

  • Cyber Security which looks at security issues online and solutions to them.
  • Innovation which looks at ways business could be improved by utilising technology to solve problems. You also design an app to solve a specific problem
  • Web presence which looks at Google Analytics, Search Engine Optimisation and a range of simple web creation apps. This is something to encourage Entrepreneurship.

The course is available on Wed & Fri 12.30-4.30 in E202 Elswick Building at the moment but we are flexible enough to offer this opportunity at other times if necessary.
