Award for Excellence in Corporate Services at Blackpool and The Fylde College
by Moodle Support - Thursday, December 15, 2011, 05:24 PM

The College would like to celebrate the immense amount of hard work and effort that Corporate Services colleagues contribute to the achievement of learners at Blackpool and The Fylde College. Learners often recognise and celebrate the living changing differences that academic staff make to their lives when they achieve qualifications, however as a College we know that the work of corporate colleagues is equally important to that success.

The College would like to invite nominations for the "Awards for Excellence in Corporate Services" from both Staff and Students. These awards are designed to celebrate the importance of staff who do not deliver or directly support learning, but make a real impact on the College's success in the way their service is delivered. There will be 3 awards; 2 individual awards of £800 and 1 award for a 'team' of £800 to spend on a team event. All nominations will receive a certificate and be part of a celebratory event at the Hilton Hotel, Blackpool in February 2012.

Nominations can be made by managers, colleagues or students and are currently open. Nominations will close on the 3rd February 2012. You can email your nominations to Sue Edgington, Quality and Standards sedg@blackpool.ac.uk or put your nominations in the 'Gold Boxes' in reception areas/LRC areas. Following the closing date a selection panel of Governors (including the staff governors) and relevant managers will meet to make a final selection.

Nomination forms are also available from all Reception and LRC areas across all sites.

Bicycle Security
by Moodle Support - Monday, November 21, 2011, 05:03 PM

Cycle theft is on the increase, especially at this time of the year. Help us to help you by following a few basic tips to avoid your cycle from being stolen:

  1. Purchase a recommended cycle cable lock, long enough to thread between wheels, frame and securing stand.
  2. Purchase a recommended 'D type' shackle lock as a secondary measure to secure frame to securing stand.
  3. Ensure the locks are difficult to access to unlock because if they are difficult for you to open then it will be difficult for a thief.
  4. Get your cycle chemically etched by the Police, not only will they do this free of charge, they will give you a free, quality cycle lock. If you are interested in this service contact Estates - Campus Services Manager for details (kbr@blackpool.ac.uk or 01253 504248).
  5. Report any suspicious persons to security staff or Reception, especially if they seem to be interested in the cycles already secured in location.

Celebrating Cleveleys Transformation
by Moodle Support - Friday, October 21, 2011, 04:30 PM

Blackpool and The Fylde College invites you to a fantastic fireworks display to celebrate the official unveiling of our new logo and the transformation of the Cleveleys building.

Date: Thursday 3rd November 2011
Time: 5.00pm-6.00pm
Location: Bispham Campus, on the grass area in front of the Cleveleys building

We are pleased that D&B Facades, the contractor who carried out the cladding work, has agreed to sponsor the fireworks so everyone at the College can celebrate the new look building with them. The event has been planned at a time when very few classes should be interrupted, to allow as many staff and students as possible to enjoy the event.

To register for tickets, please visit www.blackpool.ac.uk/cleveleys, login using your student ID and fill in the form. Registration will be open until Tuesday 1st November.

Please note: There will be no access to Car Park 1 between 4.30pm and 6.00pm for Health and Safety reasons. If you plan to leave the site between these times, please use Car Park 2.

Also, in case of inclement weather please bring umbrellas, warm clothing and suitable footwear.
